The Last Word | What Do We Believe?
The John Birch Society (JBS), founded in 1958 by Robert W. Welch, Jr., was created in order to confront and defeat the global spread of communism and socialism, as well as growing threats to American sovereignty, the Constitution, and individual liberty.
From its inception, the Society’s mission has been to educate and organize citizens to understand and defend the Constitution, personal liberty, civic virtue, private property, and national sovereignty — often summarized as “less government, more responsibility, and — with God’s help — a better world,” a motto embodying the virtues of limited government, individual liberty, and moral responsibility.
