Goodness of America

From $50 to $1,250, and Beyond

When Shelli Trench of Garner, North Carolina, went to her local Walmart with $50 to purchase supplies for Hurricane Florence victims, she inspired the store’s manager to contribute. When all was done, the $50 that Trench intended to spend turned into $1,251 worth of supplies.

Trench posted about her experience on her Facebook page. She explained that earlier that day, she dropped off water and diapers at the shelter at Garner Magnet High School, where she learned that the greatest need was T-shirts and underwear. She decided she would go to Walmart that night to purchase the items.

When she arrived at Walmart, she approached manager Jeff Jobes and asked if he could give her a discount to stretch out the $50 that she had to spend, but his response was even more generous than she could have expected, WPVI-TV reported.
