The New American recently interviewed Republican U.S. Representative Thomas Massie of Kentucky, who has garnered a reputation as the most constitutionalist member of Congress. Since first being sworn in on November 13, 2012, Massie has consistently championed constitutional principles, garnering a near-perfect 99-percent lifetime score in The New American’s Freedom Index, which measures congressional votes for their alignment with the Constitution.
A frequent guest for video interviews with The New American, this is Massie’s first interview with us during the 119th Congress. He discusses the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE); his bills to audit the Federal Reserve, abolish the Fed, abolish the Department of Education, and eliminate taxes on Social Security payments to seniors; and his thoughts about replacing the income tax with tariffs to fund the federal government.
