The priority placement of the LGBTQ flag hanging above the White House South Portico on Saturday in acknowledgment and celebration of Pride Month drew outrage from many Americans.
Biden, along with the the first lady, spoke briefly to reportedly thousands of guests, kicking off the largest LGBTQ pride event in White House history. Wasting no time in making it another opportunity to push his neo-Marxist social agenda, the president spewed his talking points.
The Washington Examiner reported:
“When families across the country face excruciating decisions to relocate to a different state to protect their child from dangerous ant-LGTBQ laws, we have to act,” the president addressed the crowd. “We need to push back against the hundreds of callous and cynical bills introduced in states targeting transgender children, terrifying families and criminalizing doctors and nurses.”
First lady Jill Biden told the crowd, “Today, we say loud and clear that you belong, that you are beautiful, that you are loved…. Let it remind you that you don’t have to face these battles alone. You are never alone….”
The president tweeted later:
I know that too many people in the LGBTQI+ community are worried and afraid about their future and their safety. I want to send a message to the entire community — especially to transgender children. You are loved. You are heard. You are understood. You belong.
Saturday’s event added to Biden’s earlier proclamation that June, as it has been for a number of years, is LGBTQ Pride Month.
It was more than the Pride Month celebration that angered many Americans — it was the fact that Biden used the event to dishonor and disgrace the patriotic symbolism and sacrifice the United States flag holds for all Americans.
Biden proudly tweeted, “Today, the People’s House — your house — sends a clear message to the country and to the world. America is a nation of pride,” showing the pride flag display at the White House.
One outraged Twitter user responded with, “This is a disgrace. The US flag DOES NOT FLANK *ANY* FLAG. Especially not on OUR White House.” Another tweeted, “NO American in any war has died for the pride flag. Insulting to every veteran including me!”
A number of users referenced the U.S. Flag Code while voicing their displeasure:
U.S. Flag Code §7. e. The flag of the United States of America should be at the center and at the highest point of the group when a number of flags … are grouped and displayed…
Biden is violating the flag code by putting the ridiculous black trans pride flag at the center.
Senator Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) also accused Biden of violating the United States Flag Code during the event on Saturday. Marshall tweeted: “This is a disgrace. Not only is it in breach of US Flag Code, but it’s a glaring example of this White Houses’ [sic] incompetence and insistence on putting their social agenda ahead of patriotism.”
To make matters worse, Saturday’s flag display came two days after Biden’s proclamation on Flag Day and National Flag Week, which started on Sunday. In that proclamation Biden proudly stated, “I urge all Americans to observe Flag Day and National Flag Week by displaying the flag and honoring all of our brave service members and revering those who gave their last full measure of devotion defending our freedoms.”
Biden’s total lack of respect for the “brave service members” and the utter hypocrisy of his proclamations only adds to the anger of so many Americans who have had enough of this administration’s woke policies. One Twitter user succinctly made this point: “To advance revolutionary transgender agenda targeting children, Biden violates basic tenet of US Flag Code and disrespects every American service member buried under its colors.”
Trying to come to some conclusion as to whether Biden clearly understands the hypocrisy of his own messaging, the Washington Examiner’s chief political correspondent Byron York reviewed the president’s statements and proclamations over the last few weeks, including those honoring veterans, Memorial Day, the 79th anniversary of D-Day, and Pride Month. York writes about Biden’s use of the words “courage” and “bravery,” and his associating LBGTQ activists and veterans as being the same.
York writes:
What was going on? Shouldn’t there be some sort of internal balance in a White House so that the president of the U.S. does not heap more praise on the attendees of a “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Pride Month” gathering than on the Americans who stormed the beaches at Normandy? Shouldn’t there be some sort of governor who keeps the hyperbole machine from running out of control? Shouldn’t there be some sense of proportion?
There are all sorts of courage. People show courage every day. Some do so by sticking to their beliefs even if it costs them their job or social standing. Some do it by rescuing others in dire situations. But courage in battle, done on behalf of the U.S., is something else.
Biden should be ashamed of the disgraceful display of the pride flag at the White House, in his words, the “People’s House.” He should apologize to the whole nation — especially veterans and families of those who gave their all — for using the White House to push his Marxist agenda, and then remove the flag from the South Portico.
