Like a deer in headlights, the Deep State is backtracking after being caught spending American taxpayer dollars on partisan propaganda.
An agency of the U.S. State Department said on Tuesday that it will cease funding a George Soros-financed propaganda outfit. This came after a report by the Washington Examiner detailing the questionable use of public money.
As the Examiner reported, the U.K.-based Global Disinformation Index (GDI), which ostensibly seeks to disrupt the “business of disinformation” by making lists of “high-risk” (read: “right-wing”) news outlets, received more than $200,000 from the National Endowment for Democracy and around $100,000 from the Global Engagement Center — both of which are part of the State Department.
With the help of this government funding, GDI tried to blacklist right-wing outlets by contacting advertisers and trying to convince them not to work with the outlets on their list.
The Washington Examiner report prompted backlash from Republicans, who demanded that the State Department cease its funding of GDI, which also has taken undisclosed amounts from George Soros, per the GDI website. The GOP response was particularly sharp given that GDI’s “ten riskiest online news sources” were all conservative or libertarian.
GDI features more than 2,000 outlets on its “dynamic exclusion list.” According to CEO Clare Melford, their blacklisting efforts “had a significant impact on the advertising revenue of these sites.”
As a result of the reporting and backlash, the National Endowment for Democracy told the Washington Times that it “will no longer provide financial support to GDI,” as it “cannot fund anything that focuses on the United States.”
The funding of GDI was a clear violation of that policy, given that even a GDI spokesperson admitted that its purpose is to “identify foreign state and non-state disinformation narratives, trends and techniques aimed at undermining … the policies, security or stability of the United States.”
Previously, GDI has worked to convince Twitter to take down accounts linked “to the Russian government.”
The National Endowment of Democracy has taken an active role in promoting political activity abroad supportive of regime changes, such as the promotion of anti-government outlets during recent protests in Iran.
Such actions are in alignment with the strategies involved in Washington, D.C.-orchestrated “color revolutions,” in which the global establishment employs a combination of protests, liberal “journalism,” international criticism, sanctions, and violent uprisings to pressure the removal of governments that rub globalists the wrong way.
These color revolutions are designed to look like organic movements by disgruntled citizens, but are in reality heavily financed and organized by Washington and its allies.
As The New American has reported, the administration appears to be employing these tactics in Hungary, to which the White House deployed longtime Obama ally Samantha Power in her capacity as administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
A press release from the agency prior to her arrival stated that the aim of the trip was to “support independent Hungarian partner organizations working to protect the rule of law, strengthen democratic institutions and civil society, and support independent media” — the typical language used against regimes the globalists seek to topple.
In reality, the reason the “global community” wants to remove Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is because of his stance on issues such as migration and protecting children from LGBT propaganda.
In retaliation for Orban’s style of government, the European Union recently penalized Hungary, freezing billions of euros because the country’s government has allegedly undermined democracy.
GDI is only one piece of the extensive puzzle representing George Soros’ tight grip over the media.
According to Newsbusters, which describes itself as “an online rapid-response vehicle for documenting, exposing, and neutralizing liberal bias in the media,” the Soros network consists of hundreds of media, humanitarian, and social-justice groups that not only let the Hungarian-born billionaire “wield massive power over information in international politics,” but also make it possible for him to “mold public opinion on practically every continent and in many languages.”
Per the report, one of the biggest media recipients of Soros cash is Project Syndicate, which prides itself on being “the world’s opinion page” and on having an audience of “prominent politicians, policymakers, scholars, business leaders, and civic activists from six continents.”
Project Syndicate, which supports abortion and restrictive climate policies, took $1.5 million from Soros from 2016-2020.
The Soros network has also been expending resources to prop up the Biden administration while attacking President Donald Trump.
The Congressional Integrity Project, a pro-Democrat dark money group that indirectly receives money from Soros, is currently digging up dirt on Republicans involved in the probe into Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.
In short, the playbook that Soros and other globalist elites, in collaboration with their allies in government, have been implementing to effect regime change in other countries is the very same playbook used to place Democrats in power here.
To demonstrate of how effective these tactics are, one need look no further than how the combination of propaganda, social-media censorship, street activism, and control of election processes brought about the removal of President Trump and the installation of Joe Biden.
The color revolution has already taken place. In the United States, as elsewhere in the world, the globalists got the regime change they wanted.
