Obama Task Force Plotting Extreme Assault on Gun Rights

While the “Assault Weapons Ban” and federal registration scheme pushed by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) has already sparked a nationwide outcry against Washington’s latest attempt to further infringe on the right to keep and bear arms, the Obama administration has made clear that its own full-fledged assault on Americans’ gun rights aims to go even further. According to news reports citing officials, a task force led by Vice President Joe Biden is developing a gun control “package” including broad executive and legislative actions that could gut what remains of the Second Amendment. Even some Democrats have called the proposals “extreme.”

Among the most brazen assaults being considered by the administration is a proposal that would criminalize all private sales of guns that did not keep the federal government in the loop. The scheme, which would purport to require a full federal background check for every gun sale in America, aims to track all firearms in the country through a federal database. It would also represent an attack on gun shows. According to news reports, the administration seems to believe that the unconstitutional scheme can be implemented by “executive order.”

Gun rights activists have already shot down similar schemes, saying a national registry would simply serve as a prelude to outright confiscation later — as has happened on countless occasions throughout history, often just before governments engaged in mass murder of dissidents and target groups. However, despite massive opposition and public vows of civil disobedience, Obama and some Democrat lawmakers are determined to build an expensive federal register of all guns in America, complete with fingerprints. How such measures would reduce crime or violence remains unclear, but critics of the proposal say that was never the point anyway.

Also on the agenda is ramping up the “mental health” component of the federal background check system, another scheme Obama apparently believes can be advanced using “executive action.” Analysts, however, are already sounding alarm bells about the massive potential for abuse. Some experts are warning that anyone who has ever visited a psychiatrist or been prescribed psychiatric medications — even common anti-depressants or ADD medication, for example — could potentially be barred from owning a firearm. And now that the federal government has unconstitutionally compiled detailed health and prescription records from all across the nation, it would be relatively simple to implement such a scheme.

“The possibility of this ‘mental health crackdown’ on Second Amendment rights is yet another reason to avoid ever purchasing or using such medications,” observed liberty-minded analyst Mike Adams, editor of the popular health site Natural News. “Not only are SSRI drugs linked to violence and suicides; simply purchasing a bottle of such medications causes your name to be recorded in a government database as having done so. This can immediately flag you as ‘guilty’ even if you’ve never done anything wrong.”

Incredibly, despite the fact that virtually every mass shooting in America has occurred in so-called “gun free zones” mandated by federal statutes, Obama is reportedly planning to double down on that scheme as well. According to news reports citing administration officials, the president will be seeking to, among other ideas, increase penalties for violators — perhaps teachers or school administrators who leave a firearm in their car, for example.

Even as Obama’s own children attend a school with numerous armed guards and Secret Service agents, kids without taxpayer-funded protection are expected to remain sitting ducks in “gun free” zones that critics have called “magnets” for mass shooters. Aside from being unconstitutional, how stricter penalties for gun possession would deter somebody intent on murder and probably suicide remains unclear. Gun rights advocates, meanwhile, have called for repealing the half-baked statute purporting to infringe on the right to keep and bear arms in certain areas, saying it only affects law-abiding citizens anyway.

Obama hopes to implement much of the anti-gun rights agenda by executive fiat. However, he also has a plan that he thinks will help ram other unpopular and unconstitutional gun control measures through Congress, according to a Washington Post article published over the weekend outlining parts of the attack. Like he did with ObamaCare, which is still opposed by most Americans, the president is plotting to create a “coalition” to get behind his schemes. This time, he hopes it will consist of big companies such as Wal-Mart, which would benefit financially, as well as some religious leaders and even law-enforcement personnel who can be prodded into jumping on board. The plan would also try to fracture the opposition.

In a summit hosted on December 20, the Post reported, an array of top Cabinet officials — more than a few included on Judicial Watch’s list of the top 10 most corrupt politicians for 2012 — gathered to discuss the plan. Among the attendees was disgraced Attorney General Eric Holder, the first top prosecutor in U.S. history to be held in criminal contempt of Congress, who is currently engaged in covering up the Justice Department’s operation “Fast and Furious” that armed Mexican drug cartels. Holder is also known for having suggested a tax-funded campaign to “brainwash” the public against guns. Other officials at the meeting included Education Secretary Arne Duncan, Homeland Security boss Janet “Big Sis” Napolitano, and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.

Anti-gun groups like the Brady Campaign, a member of the United Nations-backed International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA) seeking global disarmament, are also involved in the administration’s discussions for the outright assault on the Second Amendment. “They are very clearly committed to looking at this issue comprehensively,” Brady boss Dan Gross told the Post, adding that the proposals under consideration are “a deeper exploration than just the assault-weapons ban.”

While the establishment media continue to parrot the bogus “tipping point in the gun control debate” mantra, some of the proposals being considered by the Obama administration are so draconian that even Democrat lawmakers are speaking out. “I think you need to put everything on the table, but what I hear from the administration — and if the Washington Post is to be believed — that’s way, way in extreme of what I think is necessary or even should be talked about,” said Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.). “And it’s not going to pass.”

Of course, recent polls also show that a majority of Americans oppose new proposals like banning so-called “assault weapons” — an arbitrary term generally used by anti-Second Amendment politicians and anti-gun zealots to describe semi-automatic firearms. Citizens are buying arms, ammunition, and accessories in record numbers, too. Military personnel and law-enforcement officials nationwide, meanwhile, are also speaking out about the schemes while vowing to defend the rights enshrined in the Second Amendment.

“I am asking our elected officials here to nullify any and all federal or state laws which would infringe on the citizens’ right to keep and bear arms, and I’ve been getting massive, massive support from all over the country,” Gilberton Borough, Pennsylvania, Police Chief Mark Kessler told The New American in a phone interview discussing his proposed ordinance nullifying federal and state assaults on gun rights. “We want to nullify any and all rules, regulations, and acts against the Second Amendment or our freedoms. We need to say this is unconstitutional, we need to stick together, and we need to get our message out there.”

It appears that, for now at least, major infringements on the right to keep and bear arms are unlikely to get through Congress, according to analysts — especially with the House under GOP control and even RINOs and some Democrats in the Senate promising to stand firm. Still, that is by no means a done deal, and the Obama administration and its fanatical anti-gun allies in the establishment press will almost certainly be pushing hard. That is why activists are urging concerned citizens to contact their representatives immediately.

Even if lawmakers stand by their oath of office and the rights of Americans, however, the threat of a lawless president trying to ram through his unconstitutional anti-gun rights agenda using other means is very real. Until Congress puts a stop to the out-of-control behavior by de-funding Obama’s unlawful programs and reining in powers usurped by the executive branch, the danger to Americans’ unalienable rights will continue to grow.
