Dr. Arthur Robinson Explodes Bogus Global Warming Consensus (Video)

Dr. Arthur Robinson, a distinguished chemist and cofounder/president of the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM), was honored recently in Las Vegas at the Ninth International Conference on Climate Change (ICCC9) with the Voice of Reason Award presented by The Heartland Institute.

Dr. Robinson, who also edits the highly informative Access to Energy newsletter and has written articles for this magazine — sat down at the conference for an impromptu interview with The New American. (See the video below.)

In 1998, Dr. Arthur Robinson was one of the principal organizers of the Petition Project, an effort to demonstrate that the claimed “consensus” of science in favor of the belief that humans are causing catastrophic global warming does not exist. The event that precipitated the project was the United Nations-sponsored meeting in Kyoto, Japan, which produced the Kyoto Protocol, demanding global rationing of energy, ostensibly to save the world from the non-crisis of warming supposedly caused by burning hydrocarbon fuels.

In two campaigns (1998-1999 and 2007) the Petition Project gathered signatures from more than 31,000 scientists, physicians, and engineers (including 9,029 with Ph.D.s) who reject global warming alarmism and the draconian measures claimed to be necessary for the entire planet.

Dr. Frederick Seitz, a legendary figure in the world of physics (recipient of the National Medal of Science, NASA’s Distinguished Public Service Award, and other honors; a former president of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and president emeritus of Rockefeller University), wrote a letter accompanying the petition in which he challenged the Kyoto treaty as “based upon flawed ideas,” and declared it “would have very negative effects upon the technology of nations throughout the world, especially those that are currently attempting to lift from poverty and provide opportunities to the over 4 billion people in technologically underdeveloped countries.”

The petition reads, in part:

The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.

There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate.

The New American has published many stories over the years debunking the claim that there is a “consensus of science” on man-made global warming, particularly exposing the flawed and fraudulent studies by Naomi Oreskes and John Cook that have been cited innumerable times to manufacture the “97 percent of scientists agree” myth.

The New American congratulates Dr. Robinson on his receiving the Voice of Reason Award and commends his many contributions over the years as a scientist, publisher of home school curriculum materials, and staunch defender of limited constitutional government.
