A transgender assistant professor of American Studies at UC-Davis posted a not-so-veiled threat at what he called “zionist journalists” and their families on October 10, only days after the vicious Hamas attack against Israel. Jemma Decristo, who was also listed as a “faculty advisor,” used knife, ax, and blood emojis in a cryptic post that threatened not only journalists, but also their children, on X.
One has to wonder what type of information Decristo’s American Studies students have been getting from the outspoken professor. His X bio described him as a “black anarchist.”
The post itself is no longer visible, as Decristo appears to have changed his settings to private, but several journalists have grabbed screen shots of the incendiary comments.
“One group of people we have easy access to in the US is all these zionist journalists who spread propaganda & misinformation. They have houses with addresses, kids in school. They can fear their bosses, but they should fear us more,” Decristo wrote.
“Zionist journalists” were not Decristo’s only targets, as his rage was also directed at the United States. In a subsequent post, Decristo expressed support for attacks against U.S. embassies in the Middle East.
“Fire to the US embassy. US out of everywhere. US GO HOME. US GO HOME,” Decristo wrote in support of a gathering of Hezbollah supporters outside the U.S. Embassy in Beirut.
UC-Davis was oddly quiet about the post until Thursday, October 19, when Chancellor Gary May officially condemned Decristo’s threat in a statement.
“I absolutely condemn the posts attributed to a UC Davis faculty member that recently appeared on the social media platform X. I find the comments revolting in every way, and I disagree wholeheartedly with them,” May said.
“UC Davis rejects all forms of violence and discrimination, as they are antithetical to the values of our university. We strive to foster a climate of equity and justice built on mutual understanding and respect for all members of the community,” May added.
According to May, the university is unable to comment on Decristo’s employment status as a confidential investigation is underway.
No investigation is stopping others from commenting on Decristo’s status, however.
Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk called for Decristo’s immediate arrest.
“UC DAVIS Professor Jemma Decristo is threatening to hunt down Jewish journalists in their homes,” Kirk said on X. “Using knife, axe, and blood emojis and talking about their addresses being public. Jemma Decristo is a terrorist and should be arrested immediately.”
Campus Reform‘s Editor in Chief Zachary Marschall, a Jewish journalist, wondered if UC-Davis was prepared to protect him and others like him from Decristo.
”A simple Google search of me shows that I am a Jewish journalist on the record as pro-Israel,” Marschall asked the university. “What steps are UC Davis or law enforcement taking to prevent Decristo from trying to kill me, or other Jews (and their children) in my profession?”
Campus Reform reported that UC-Davis offered no answer.
Other Jewish leaders called for action against Decristo.
“Emotions are running high. We understand that,” said Barry Broad with the Jewish Federation of Sacramento. “We can’t live in a civilized society where threats of violence are acceptable and there are no consequences for making that.”
Andy Ngo reports that anti-Semitism is not Decristo’s only problem. He is also a huge supporter of Critical Race Theory.
“Jemma Decristo, a far-left trans assistant professor of American Studies at @ucdavis who calls for ‘Zionist journalists’ and their children to be hacked to death, was formerly named Jeramy Marcus Decristo. Decristo has long been steeped in CRT & violent decolonization theory,” Ngo reported.
While it’s not surprising that an American college professor holds such abhorrent views, it’s still troubling. When we’re young, we’re told that college is something we should aspire to. Now, with professors such as Decristo at universities, increasingly, college appears to be something that should be avoided like the plague.
