School Super’s E-mail Shows Loudoun County, Va. Board Knew About Rape. Board Members, Super Denied It
Loudon Superintendent Scott Ziegler

An e-mail from the Loudoun County, Virginia, school superintendent, Scott Ziegler, to school-board members shows that he did tell them about the bathroom rape of a 9th-grade girl.

The e-mail disproved what Ziegler told board members during the now famous meeting at which the victim’s father was arrested during a confrontation with a leftist crackpot.

The e-mail should fortify the damage claims angry dad Scott Smith seeks in the lawsuit his attorneys will file. But it also proves that bureaucrats and leftist politicians lie to protect themselves.

The Meeting

At issue is the school system’s idiotic and dangerous “transgender” policy that allow mentally ill boys who believe they are girls — and would-be rapists looking for a target rich environment — to use the girls’ restrooms.

That policy allowed a “gender-fluid” boy to rape the girl at Stone Bridge High School. Police have charged him with two counts of forcible sodomy, one count of anal sodomy, and one count of forcible fellatio.

Despite being under house arrest, he returned to school and assaulted another girl. He faces sexual battery and abduction charges in connection with that attack.

At the meeting, Smith heard this exchange between Zeigler, Chairwoman Brenda Sheridan, and board member Beth Barts. Barts is a radical leftist who quit the board because she couldn’t take the heat from parents,

Barts: “Our students do not need to be protected, and they are not in danger. Do we have assaults in our bathrooms or locker rooms regularly?”

Ziegler: “To my knowledge, we don’t have any record of assaults occurring in our restrooms.”

Sheridan: “Have we had any issues involving transgender students in our bathrooms or locker rooms?”

Ziegler: “I think it’s important to keep our perspective on this, we’ve heard it several times tonight from our public speakers, but the predator transgender student or person simply does not exist.”

But that was clearly false and Ziegler knew it. So did board members.

The E-mail

Yesterday, WTOP in Washington, D.C., published Ziegler’s e-mail to the board on May 28.

“This afternoon a female student alleged that a male student sexually assaulted her in the restroom,” Ziegler wrote:

The LCSO is investigating the matter. Secondary to the assault investigation, the female student’s parent responded to the school and caused a disruption by using threatening and profane language that was overheard by staff and students. Additional law enforcement units responded to the school to assist with the parent.

In a public statement after the contentious school-board meeting, Ziegler explained that he didn’t understand Barts’ question about assaults.

Oddly, Ziegler said he “wrongly interpreted” Barts’ question to be about “incidents involving transgender and gender-fluid students.” Ziegler said the board was discussing the county’s nutty “transgender” bathroom policy, and Sheridan asked a question about it. He said he should have asked Barts to clarify her question.

Problem is, the suspect in the rape is a “gender-fluid” student, news accounts say, who raped the victim in the girls’ restroom. Ziegler did not deny those accounts when he spoke publicly for more than seven minutes last week. That means his explanation is nonsense. It can’t be true.

As The New American reported earlier this week, the Smith family plans to sue the school system and seek to overturn the unjust misdemeanor conviction after his arrest.

Soros Prosecutor

Yet the story doesn’t end with the county’s crackpot leftist policies on “transgenders.” The rot in Loudoun County festers in the county prosecutor’s office.

The Commonwealth’s Attorney who personally prosecuted Smith, Buta Biberaj, is a radical Albanian immigrant backed by leftist billionaire George Soros. As the county’s top law-enforcement official, she was responsible for keeping track of the rape suspect when he waltzed back into the school to assault another girl. That means she’s partly responsible for the second attack.

A Muslim, “Biberaj was one of several Soros-backed prosecutors elected in Northern Virginia in 2019 after her campaign received more than $860,000 from Soros’ Justice and Public Safety PAC,” Fox News reported last week:

She is a criminal reform advocate and member of a group of the commonwealth’s attorneys called Virginia Progressive Prosecutors for Justice, which calls for eliminating mandatory minimum sentences and cash bail.
