Joe Biden’s statement following the school shooting in Madison, Wisconsin, on Monday reveals how detached he and his anti-gun agenda are from reality.

The reality is that, as of early Wednesday morning, not much is known. The shooter, Natalie “Samantha” Rupnow, was 15 years old when she took her own life following her attack at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin. She used a handgun. A teacher and a student were killed, and six others were injured, two of them critically.

She appeared to be a pawn in a war between her parents who were married, divorced, and then remarried, resulting in Natalie being moved between separate households almost on a daily basis. And she has left a trail on social media that “experts” are now deciphering to try to find a motive.

Ban them All

Biden, on the other hand, wants to ban all “assault” weapons (i.e., semi-automatic rifles) and so-called high-capacity magazines. He wants a national red flag law. He wants universal background checks on every firearm transaction in the country.

Biden’s non-sensical rant demands that “We need Congress to act. Now.”

His agenda is tired and now irrelevant, thanks to the incoming president replacing Biden in January. Nevertheless, he pressed on. He decried “the scourge of gun violence” and touted his anti-gun White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, which will end on January 20, 2025. He said:

But more is needed. Congress must pass commonsense gun safety laws: Universal background checks. A national red flag law. A ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.

Irrelevant

As if any of these incursions into sacred constitutional rights would have affected the outcome in Madison, Wisconsin on Monday. For instance, federal and state laws already prohibit someone aged 15 from owning a firearm; a ban on rifles and their magazines wouldn’t have prevented the shooting, because the shooter used a handgun; a background check would have been useless; and a national red flag law would not have been triggered, as even her family and friends suspected nothing out of the ordinary until the shooting on Monday.

But, no matter. Any excuse to promote the anti-gun, anti-Second Amendment agenda will serve.

Alan Gottlieb, chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, called out Biden for his willingness to use the shooting to press his anti-gun agenda:

Joe Biden knows 15-year-olds can’t legally buy handguns anywhere in this country, so a call for background checks is irrelevant.

Police have recovered a handgun which was used in the shooting, so calling for a ban on semiautomatic rifles and their magazines is also irrelevant and dishonest. Indeed, such demands underscore just how irrelevant Joe Biden and his gun ban agenda have become….

We join all Americans in deploring this horrible crime, but attempting to penalize every law-abiding citizen who owns or may someday wish to purchase a firearm will not undo the tragedy. Biden, and his fellow gun prohibitionists all know the incident in Madison would not have been prevented, even if all of the laws he now wants passed had already been in effect.

It is dishonest to suggest otherwise, but, of course, honesty has hardly been the earmark of the Biden administration.

January 20, 2025, can’t come soon enough. On that date, the disastrous and anti-American administration will happily fade into historical irrelevance. A new administration will work to repair the damage it inflicted on the republic over the last four years.
