Lindsey Graham Suggests Attacking Iranian Oil Fields and Military Bases

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) appeared on Fox News yesterday to discuss Kata’ib Hezbollah attacks on U.S. troops in Iraq and Houthi attacks in the Red Sea. Graham said Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin is failing troops in the field, noting, “I admire him, he’s a patriot, but he’s not doing a good job protecting the soldiers.”

In response to attacks on commercial shipping and the U.S. military, Graham called for attacking Iranian oil fields and destroying the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps headquarters, saying, “Without Iran there are no Houthis, the Houthis are completely backed by Iran. I’ve been saying for six months now, hit Iran; they have oil fields out in the open, they have the Revolutionary Guard headquarters you can see from space. Blow it off the map.”

Military analyst Johnny Joey Jones asked Graham how he thinks the U.S. military should respond to attacks on American military bases in Iraq. Graham said, “To make sure they don’t fight us here we have to fight ’em over there. The border is your last line of defense not your first.” He argued for keeping U.S. military in the Middle East long-term, saying, “These people are crazy, they’re religious Nazis. Hit ’em over there before they hit us, and you don’t need 100,000 troops but you need some.”
