BLM Responds to Cuban Protests by Praising the Communist Regime Cubans Are Protesting

Black Lives Matter has issued a statement about the protests that swept across the former island paradise of Cuba beginning Sunday. And while those Cubans who actually participated in those protests made it clear that they were protesting communism, BLM (itself an admitted Marxist, anti-American organization) blames America.

In its statement — posted via Instagram — BLM blamed the U.S. embargo (which it described as “cruel and inhumane”) for Cuba’s woes. It went on to praise the violent, oppressive communist government in Cuba for “its commitment to sovereignty and self-determination” and for harboring a convicted cop killer from the United States — one Assata Shakur

It comes, of course, as no surprise that a Marxist organization that openly hates America would — when presented with the opportunity — side with a repressive communist regime. After all, this is the same bunch of folks that used Independence Day to post to social media that the United States flag is a “racist” “symbol of hatred.”

In keeping with that anti-American spirit, BLM posted via Instagram that all of the ills that plague Cuba — far from being the natural result of communism — are entirely due to the United States policy of embargo. That post begins, “Black Lives Matter condemns the U.S. federal government’s inhumane treatment of Cubans, and urges it to immediately lift the economic embargo.” It goes on to say, “This cruel and inhumane policy, instituted with the explicit intention of of destabilizing the country and undermining Cubans’ right to choose their own government, is at the heart of Cuba’s current crisis.”

That makes for great communist rhetoric, but dodges the reality that Cubans who are protesting (and therefore know why they are doing so) have stated that it is communism they are protesting. As this writer pointed out in a previous article:

The protesters shouted, ““Libertad!” — “Freedom!” — and, standing the cry of the revolutionaries on its head, they shouted, “Patria y Vida!” — “Fatherland and Life!” The communist revolutionaries had shouted, “Patria o Muerte!” — “Fatherland or Death!” — meaning they preferred death over a failure to seize Cuba for their revolution. Just in case it wasn’t clear, the protesters crowded outside the Communist Party headquarters and shouted, “Cuba isn’t yours!”

For BLM to pretend the protests are about the embargo is deliberate dishonesty — though that is hardly shocking coming from a race-baiting bunch of blame hustlers. The very point here is that the people of Cuba do have a “right to choose their own government” and are attempting to do so by rejecting the very communism which BLM praises in this post.

BLM’s post goes on to say, “The people of Cuba are being punished by the U.S. government because the country has maintained its commitment to sovereignty and self-determination,” as if the people of Cuba are not currently crying out against their true oppressors — the communist regime that has ruled them with an iron fist since it seized power in a bloody revolution in 1959. This infantile and transparent attempt at deception also ignores the people of Cuba who are currently being held as political prisoners for speaking out against that very communist government. But — always looking for a racial angle — BLM goes on in the post to say that the U.S. government’s embargo has “only instigated suffering for the country’s 11 million people — of which 4 million are Black and Brown.”

When race becomes part of every point a group makes, that group demonstrates that it is racist.

And while BLM is certainly racist, it is also Marxist and ant-American. In fact, the race angle appears to be little more than a wedge driven deeply into the body politic to divide people along racial lines. Having introduced the “Black and Brown” element into the equation, the BLM post capitalizes on it, saying, “Cuba has historically demonstrated solidarity with oppressed peoples of African descent, from protecting revolutionaries like Assata Shakur trough granting her assylum, to supporting Black liberation struggles in Angola, Mozambique, Guinea Bissau and South Africa.”

Since the racial issue in all of this is subservient to the Marxist ideology held and promoted by BLM, it is worth noting that BLM’s praise of Cuba’s communist regime is intricately tied to that regime’s protection of Assata Shakur and its support of communist revolutions flying under the false flag of racial liberation.

As this writer described Shakur in a previous article:

Shakur was a communist member of the Black Panthers and Black Liberation Army. She was involved in bank robberies, bombings, kidnapping, and police killings. She was convicted of murder in 1977 but escaped prison and fled to Cuba where her comrades offered her asylum. She still lives there and has praised Cuba while working as English-language editor for Radio Havana Cuba.

So, that BLM praises the communist government of Cuba for “protecting” Shakur speaks volumes.

Likewise, that the Cuban communists’ “support” of communist revolutions in a slew of African countries is regarded as praiseworthy by BLM is evidence of the old adage “birds of a feather flock together.” Notice that BLM cannot be bothered to be concerned about the black and brown (much less white) Cubans who languish in political prisons or who die at the hands of their communist oppressors without fair trials or due process.

As brave Cubans risk being killed or disappeared for demanding the “right to choose their own government,” BLM is siding with the communists who have oppressed those Cubans — black, brown, and white — since 1959. Because the true color of Black Lives Matter is red.
