Democrats to Censure Marjorie Taylor Greene, Their Latest Move to Purge Republicans

Democrats have learned that the best way to beat the opposition is to ensure there isn’t any opposition at all.

Two first-term members of the House on Friday announced that they will introduce legislation to formally censure Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and call for her resignation due to social media posts they say threatened the lives of current and former Democrat leaders.

The Democrats, Representatives Nikema Williams (Georgia) and Sarah Jacobs (D-Calif.), announced their plans in a Friday press release, pointing to previous remarks Greene made in videos she published and social media posts she liked or shared.

The act of censuring a member of Congress, which is no more than a symbolic gesture, requires only a simple majority for passage.

“Congresswoman Greene’s comments and actions are dangerous, unpatriotic, and a clear threat to every Member of Congress,” Williams said in a statement Friday. “It would be irresponsible for us to allow her to use the ‘People’s House’ as a platform to peddle discredited conspiracy theories that only fan the flames of hatred and violence.”

According to Williams, Greene should “resign immediately to allow someone to fill her seat who believes in upholding the Constitution and the mission of this legislative body to serve all people, not harm them.”

In a statement of her own along with a press release, Jacobs said Greene repeatedly showed “her support for the execution of leaders of the Democratic Party, and her presence in Congress is a threat to our democracy, our institutions, and the safety of every person who works in the Capitol.”

“We saw on January 6th what can happen when elected leaders use their positions of public trust to encourage and incite violence,” Jacobs added, in reference to the January 6 storming of the Capitol.

Among the social media posts cited in Friday’s draft resolution was one on Facebook from 2018 in which a user wrote, “Now do we get to hang them?? Meaning H & O???” referring to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Obama.

Greene reportedly replied to the Facebook post at the time with, “Stage is being set. Players are being put in place. We must be patient. This must be done perfectly or liberal judges would let them off.”

In January 2019, Greene allegedly liked a Facebook comment that stated, “a bullet to the head would be quicker,” to remove House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) from office. Greene has also repeatedly called for Pelosi to be tried for treason, including in a Facebook video in which she reportedly said, “Nancy Pelosi is guilty of treason,” and that “a crime punishable by death is what treason is.”

Greene also received backlash from the Left over a video in which she called gun control advocate David Hogg, who was at the 2018 Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida, a “coward.”

“You know, if school zones were protected with security guards with guns, there would be no mass shootings at schools. Do you know that? The best way to stop a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun. But yet you’re attacking our Second Amendment. And you have nothing to say. No words,” Greene said to Hogg in the video.

In addition to Williams and Jacobs, other Democrats have criticized Greene. Among them is Representative. Jimmy Gomez (D-Calif.), who said Wednesday that he was planning on introducing a resolution to expel Greene, calling her presence in Congress “a direct threat against the elected officials and staff who serve our government.”

Representative Cori Bush (D-Mo.) said on Friday that she is moving her office away from Greene’s due to an altercation earlier this month in which the Democrat confronted Greene about not wearing a mask in the Capitol hallway.

“A maskless Marjorie Taylor Greene & her staff berated me in a hallway. She targeted me & others on social media. I’m moving my office away from hers for my team’s safety,” Bush tweeted.

“Rep. Bush is actually the instigator and it’s on tape. We’ll be releasing the video shortly,” Greene’s office responded.

Democrats continue to milk the January 6 storming of the Capitol for all they can. Their goal is to label Republicans “terrorists” and “extremists” in order to justify purging them from Congress, allowing them to consolidate their power. It’s a strategy right out of the Nazi playbook.
