President Donald Trump extended his national border emergency until February of 2022, providing a last-minute impetus for the federal government to continue his administration’s hardline stance on immigration just days before Democrat Joe Biden is set to assume the presidency.
“The ongoing border security and humanitarian crisis at the southern border of the United States continues to threaten our national security, including by exacerbating the effect of the pandemic caused by COVID-19 … but further action is needed to address the humanitarian crisis and to control unlawful migration and the flow of narcotics and criminals across the southern border of the United States,” read President Trump’s January 16 announcement of the emergency extension.
Since the president declared a national emergency on February 15, 2019 for the purpose of overcoming congressional opposition from both parties to his border wall, the administration has constructed over 450 miles of wall and enacted various legal reforms that give border officials the ability to quickly repatriate people who manage to get over it.
President Trump’s decision to extend the border emergency for a year comes as a new caravan of migrants from Honduras attempts to make its way through Central America to the U.S. border in anticipation of the lax immigration policies Joe Biden has promised.
Footage from the weekend showed mobs of migrants storming through police barricades in Guatemala.
Mark Morgan, the outgoing acting commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), noted the number of COVID-19 cases in the country, highlighting liberal hypocrisy in screeching hysterically about coronavirus infections while encouraging unscreened illegal aliens to force their way into the U.S. en masse.
“While a migrant caravan attempts to reach Mexico & the US led by irresponsible coordinators, our countries have had a combined 25 million COVID-19 cases & 500,000 deaths — and infections are surging! COVID is a silent killer & the number of migrants falling ill will only increase,” Morgan wrote on Twitter.
Biden has vowed that he will provide a “pathway to citizenship” for 11 million illegal aliens in the first 100 days of his presidency.
Of course, that number is likely to be higher, as the actual number of illegals in the country is believed to dwarf the 11 million figure that has been thrown around for years.
According to a study by two Yale professors and an MIT instructor, there are approximately 22.1 million illegal aliens living in the United States, more than twice previous estimates.
Moreover, Democrats would be sure to milk an amnesty program for all it’s worth, using complicit judges and bureaucrats to expand it to individuals who aren’t supposed to qualify originally under the legislation they pen.
Then, add in chain migration to the mix; if 22 million illegal aliens are granted citizenship, they will bring their family members from abroad into the country as well (both legally and illegally), resulting in a total immigration expansion many times over what Biden says it will be. That’s a lot of new Democrat voters.
Another of Biden’s pledges is to end the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), which keep migrants in Mexico as their hearings play out. Known as the “Remain-in-Mexico” policy, the Trump administration says it has played a crucial role in ending “catch-and-release,” by which migrants are released into the United States and then go into hiding, avoiding deportation.
Despite Trump’s extension of the emergency that has allowed him to get some of the wall built, Biden has promised that he will end it. He also will get rid of the Trump administration’s public-charge rule, which gives immigration officials the ability to deny a visa or permanent residency to applicants who would likely be a public burden by using welfare once in the country.
It’s no surprise that new caravans are on their way to the United States just days before Joe Biden is set to be inaugurated. He has promised the entire world that all you have to do to enjoy full American citizenship and taxpayer-funded welfare is to get across the border, no matter how many laws you break in the process.
The Biden immigration agenda will lead to the breakdown of law and order, the economy, and American society. Sadly, that’s exactly what “Sleepy Joe’s” handlers want.
