All American Adults Now Eligible for COVID-19 Vaccine; Many Still Skeptical

Every American adult is now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, meeting the Biden administration’s latest vaccine-schedule goal. To encourage everyone to get vaccinated, the president even appeared on the Roll Up Your Sleeves special on NBC, airing Sunday, April 18, and stated, “For months I’ve been telling Americans to get vaccinated when it’s your turn. Well, it’s your turn, now. It’s free, it’s convenient, and it’s the most important thing you can do to protect yourself from COVID-19.”

That this latest push will sway those who are not vaccinated, or had not been planning to get vaccinated, seems unlikely. With the Johnson & Johnson vaccine “paused” owing to blood-clot fears, and now the AstraZeneca vaccine being suspended in other countries for the same side effects, many are feeling that getting a vaccine may not be worth the risk.

In addition, many Americans are aware of the medical industry’s incentives to record COVID cases in such a way that has led to inflated case and death numbers. Add to this the fact that flu cases dropped to near non-existent levels this past season and were seemingly being replaced by COVID-19, and the government’s agenda to get every American to take an experimental COVID vaccine doesn’t add up for many people. After all, America has never reached the predicted COVID death numbers, and the CDC has admitted that COVID-19 isn’t as deadly or contagious as previously thought.

Still, the White House is determined to meet its goal of vaccinating 200 million Americans by Biden’s first 100 days in office. The Associated Press reported that, “half of all adults in the U.S. have received at least one covid-19 shot.” Access has been made readily available across the country. Anyone who wishes to receive the vaccine is now able to receive it, but the skeptics remain unconvinced.

Flip-flopping on pandemic protocols, inflation of COVID case and death statistics, and now the push for “vaccine passports” to resume normal life has led to a lot of mistrust between the people and the government over the past year. What’s more, pharmaceutical companies are already starting clinical trials with young children to offer a COVID-19 vaccine for those who are at the lowest risk for catching or dying of COIVD.

Speaking of a COVID vaccine for kids, rest assured that once the Biden administration meets its goal of 200 million adults vaccinated, it will be setting a goal to vaccinate large numbers of children, likely tying public-school attendance to getting a COVID shot.

How the vaccine will affect the population over time is yet to be seen, but the Biden administration is putting all its energy into persuading “vaccine-hesitant” Americans to “roll up their sleeves.” This has many people suspicious, particularly those who remember being told a year ago that we would just need two weeks to “flatten the curve.”
