On July 1 and 2, the We the People Convention and The Ohio Citizens PAC dinners will be taking place at the Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio. According to the website for the convention, its purpose is “to provide educational programs that will help all citizens participate in self governance as provided by the U.S. and Ohio Constitutions by participating in the governance of their township, village, municipality, state and country.”
Sponsored by Americans for Prosperity, the Heritage Foundation, the American Majority, Tea Party Patriots, and the Buckeye Institute, the convention will prove to be the opportunity for fellow patriots and conservatives to gather and enjoy fellowship while being educated by experts on important issues facing the nation.
The press release for the event explains:
The “We the People Convention” will consist of two days of educational breakout sessions, interspersed with major national figures including conservative strategist Dick Morris who will be speaking at luncheons. Its purpose is to educate and train citizens about the political process and to encourage involvement in that process at the grassroots level.

Of the many speakers who have agreed to appear at the event is John Birch Society President John McManus, who will be taking part in a panel discussion of the viability of the Federal Reserve. Regarding the Federal Reserve, McManus asserts, “It has presided over the loss of more than 95 percent of the value of U.S. currency. A huge percentage of the wealth of the people has been confiscated through the inflationary practices carried out by the Fed.” McManus is expected to present the evidence detailed in his book entitled Financial Terrorism.
Tom Zawistowski, president of the We the People Convention, is thrilled to have McManus on the panel. “We are excited to have John join the panel discussion on the Federal Reserve at the We the People Convention. John brings a depth of knowledge about American government that spans more than 44 years and has educated millions of Americans about the appropriate role of government during his tenure with The John Birch Society.”
The panel will be moderated by Linda Bowyer, Associate Professor of Finance at University of Toledo. McManus will be joined by Mike Sullivan, founder of Wealth Coach Financial Services, Inc., and Bob Wagner, a portfolio manager who taught finance at Ohio Wesleyan and Microeconomics at Ohio State University.
The Federal Reserve is just one of the many subjects McManus will be addressing at the convention. On the morning of Friday, July 1, John McManus will be speaking on the Council on Foreign Relations and its “devastating effects on liberty.” On Saturday, McManus will be on the panel that “exposes the Neocon agenda,” where he will address the impact the neoconservatives have had on the conservative movement and how they have helped move it away from its principles of limited government.
Other speakers include Warren Edstrom, co-founder of Voices for America, who will be focusing on precinct organizing, Jenny Beth Martin, Tea Party Patriots National Coordinator, Wall Street Journal columnist John Fund, The Heritage Foundation’s Hans von Spakovsky, Matthew Spaulding and Brian Walsh. Additionally, organizers for the We the People Convention recently announced that Anita MonCrief will be speaking at the event. As the whistleblower for ACORN/Project Vote, MonCrief will be appearing as an expert on combating voter fraud.
Each night, the Political Action Conference will be hosting a dinner, which will also feature prominent speakers. Friday night, attendees will be treated to a fireworks display.
The event should prove to be worthwhile. Zawistowski asserts:
“Our goals are to education citizens about the political process and the effects of that process on citizens. For many of us in the Patriot Movement, it is clear that we have the government we have because we have not fully participated in the political process as is provided by the Ohio and US Constitutions. If we are not happy with the government we have, it is up to “We the People” to change the direction of government through our participation. However, based on recent experience, we have found that regular citizens have not been able to exercise their rights effectively primarily due to a lack of understanding of how things work. The goal of this convention is to rectify that situation.”
Those interested in attending the We the People Convention should visit the website for tickets. Interested parties may purchase tickets for both days, a single day, or may simply purchase dinner tickets. Discounts are available to students, veterans, and seniors.
