Government schools in San Diego will soon be grading children not based on the quality or timeliness of their work (or even on the content of their character), but mostly on their skin tone and their teachers’ subjective opinions about how oppressed they might be and how that might have affected their “progress” toward “mastery of standards.” Seriously.
Under the guise of “combating racism,” the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) voted unanimously to abolish traditional grading methods across the district. In their place: a bizarre new system that no longer features grades based on a yearly average, and no longer considers how late assignments were turned in — or even if they were submitted at all.

“This is part of our honest reckoning as a school district,” San Diego Unified School District Vice President Richard Barrera was quoted as saying by a local propaganda outlet. “If we’re actually going to be an anti-racist school district, we have to confront practices like this that have gone on for years and years.”
Apparently, in the minds of racists who think darker-skinned people need their help to succeed, everything from being on time and proper grammar to math and “objectivity” are all characteristics of “white supremacy.” As part of that, the school district found that under the old “racist” grading system, minority students were failing more often than students of European descent.
The district and its allies in the far-left fake media even broke down failure rates by ethnicity in the half-baked effort to prove their point. According to the data, almost a quarter of all D and F grades went to Native Americans, another quarter to “Hispanics,” 20 percent to “Black” students, and just 7 percent to “White” students.
And apparently, nobody ever bothered to teach the school board members or the unhinged racist activists demanding an end to “racist” grades even the first thing about logic, reasoning, or how to interpret data. Perhaps logic is racist, too. Or perhaps, if they understood logic, they would realize how racist all of this is.
Under the new grading regime, teachers will no longer be able to create a yearly average for the student. Instead, the grades will come from the teachers’ subjective view of the students’ “progress toward mastery of standards” and their “progress” throughout the year. If you start the year as dumb and lazy as a rock, but end slightly better, teachers can reward you with good grades.
Teachers will also be prohibited from considering what the board members and their media allies described as “non-material factors” in academic grading. This includes factors such as student behavior, attendance, turning work in on time, and so on. Even failing to hand in assignments will not count against a student.
To quote the new policy, academic grades “shall not be influenced by behavior or factors that
directly measure students’ knowledge and skills in the content area.” Let that sink in. Grades will no longer reflect students’ knowledge or skills. Instead, they will “include opportunities for reflection, revision, and reassessment.”
It all fits perfectly with the ideology of those who created the disgraced and politically toxic Common Core standards imposed on America by Obama. “The reason why I helped write the standards and the reason why I am here today is that as a white male in society I am given a lot of privilege that I didn’t earn,” said Dr. David Pook, a fringe left-wing activist doubling as a professor at Granite State College.
“Ending these kinds of grades doesn’t actually eliminate the underlying inequities that produced the disparate Fs,” explained Robby Soave in Reason magazine. “It may actually cover those inequities up… Better grades do not mean students will suddenly have a better grasp of the material. They certainly won’t be better prepared for college (where traditional grades are very much still a thing).”
The changes will affect the more than 100,000 child victims of the government indoctrination system in San Diego — if it ever decides to open again. Other districts across California and beyond are reportedly considering similar schemes to quit grading students based on their knowledge and skills.
On the bright side, the more government schools openly implement idiotic and racist absurdities such as the new grading system in San Diego, the faster the exodus from government schools will accelerate. In the last 6 months, the homeschool population has doubled. If this insanity and racism continues, it will almost certainly double again in the not-too-distant future.
