Doing the job that leftist mainstream media reporters won’t do, Libs of TikTok has exposed yet another public-school scandal about which nothing will be done.
A teacher at a high school in Scappoose, Oregon, treated her white students to a litany of insults that called them “predator,” “privileged,” “school shooter,” and, of course, “racist.”
When parents objected to the “lesson,” the school superintendent said (without saying it, of course) that he supported the attack, and that nothing would be done.
Two Lists, Both Bad
The angry, racist attack was on a whiteboard that contained two lists, one for “White girls” and one for “White boys,” Libs of TikTok revealed. The list offered 21 pejoratives to describe white kids in a community that is more than 90-percent white.
Among the terms describing white girls were “blonde,” “bad drivers,” “think they’re unique,” “not intelligent,” and “stuck up,”
The terms for white boys were even worse, including:
- School shooter;
- No respect for anyone;
- Racist;
- Priviledged [sic];
- Dumb;
- Do poorly in school;
- Gym rats; and
- Predators
One student told the website that “the students were in there for a few minutes and all were looking at the board, not only in disbelief but shock. Several of them took pictures.”
When the teacher, Autumn Gonzales, entered the classroom, a “student raised her hand and asked, ‘What is the context of the writings on the board?’” The angry, white teacher “told her ‘to mind her own business.’”
Noticing the students were not satisfied with that response, Ms. Gonzales “then tried to spin it to the class.” Apparently, she claimed the lists were from the previous class discussion about “suggestions for a possible play at the school.”
Understandably, parents were furious. The principal told one parent that he had received dozens of emails and messages about the anti-white hate list.
During a phone call, “he admitted that he had no less than 25 emails and or messages left about the situation,” the parent told the website. “I asked him why this would be discussed, let alone written up on the whiteboard for all to see in an English class. He had no reason, and said it will be looked into immediately.”
Days later came the “context” for the lesson from the superintendent. He was clearly unnerved that parents objected and demanded that students be transferred to a real English class.
“In lessons related to popular culture and literature, often a teacher will provide a piece of media or reading material for students to discuss,” school super Tim Porter wrote:
When key topics arise, the teacher will support the students in discussing an accessible, appropriate way that relates to their lives and experiences. In this case, the media was the play “Twelve Angry Men,” and the topic was about biases that people have based on others’ identities. This presented an opportunity to talk about untrue stereotypes, which were generated by students and listed on a whiteboard. This type of conversation allows students to understand how stereotypes based on race and gender can be hurtful and pervasive in the world around us.…
We’ve heard positive feedback from parents and students on this teacher, class, and similar lessons, observing that when students have a chance to discuss and research topics that affect their daily lives, it makes a difference in their learning and behavior.
The obvious question is what Porter would say if a white teacher used “media” of the 2020 Black Lives Matter riots and posted pejoratives to describe blacks.
But “students and parents aren’t buying” Porter’s excuse, Libs of TikTok continued. They say “Gonzales is an activist who pushes her beliefs on other students.”
As one would expect from a public-school teacher in Oregon, “her Facebook profile suggests they are correct, with a slew of politically charged posts about ‘privilege’ and being ‘terrified’ about the 2020 election results.”
Her page also features the ridiculous outfits from television’s The Handmaid’s Tale, over the word “Resist.” Deranged feminists wore the outfits when they protested in the Hart Senate Office Building during the hearings on U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
But again, Porter wouldn’t likely defend a white teacher with a pro-Trump Twitter feed if he used “media” about the illegal-alien invasion at the southwest border to offer a 21-point list of pejoratives about “Latino” immigrants.
Unsurprising Event
Gonzales’ anti-white propaganda would be somewhat shocking in a normal school system. But Oregon’s schools are anything but normal.
Last year, the state passed the “Menstrual Dignity Act” that requires every public-school restroom to offer “free” feminine hygiene products, although they aren’t just “feminine” anymore:
Importantly, this law affirms the right to menstrual dignity for transgender, intersex, nonbinary, and two-spirit students by addressing the challenges that some students have managing menstruation while minimizing negative attention that could put them at risk of harm and navigating experiences of gender dysphoria during menstruation. Research also connects gender-affirming bathroom access to supporting student safety at school.
Before that, Governor Kate Brown signed a bill that lifted the requirement that graduating high-school seniors be proficient in math, reading, and writing.
The law would supposedly benefit “Oregon’s Black, Latino, Latina, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, Tribal, and students of color.”
Leftists who backed the bill said it would “truly reflect what every student needs to thrive in the 21st century” because the requirement that high-school graduates prove proficiency in math, reading, and writing “has historically hurt those with poor test-taking skills who would otherwise graduate.”
Happily, that bill should also benefit teacher Gonzales’ “dumb” white boys.
