Evanston/Skokie School District 65 in Illinois is teaching sexual orientation and gender orientation to children as young as preschoolers in honor of the district’s LGBTQ+ Equity Month, one of several controversial special units the district features.
“Throughout the month, educators and prek-8th grade students will broaden their understanding of identity of self and others, allyship, family structures, vocabulary, gender expression, stereotypes, colors on the intersectional pride flag, and the historical contributions of LGBTQ+ people. Each grade level engages in a selection of these topics,” the district said in an announcement addressed to families, as reported by Fox News.
According to the district’s website, which outlines the lesson plans for the week, students in preschool will learn about the pride flag and words such as “non-binary,” “queer,” “gay,” and “lesbian.” Books featured will include Pride: The story of Harvey Milk and The Rainbow Flag.
Kindergartners will learn about transgenderism and will watch videos such as That’s a Family and Heather has Two Mommies, while first graders will learn new “woke” pronouns such as “ze,” “zir,” and “hir,” and will focus on the book They, She, He, Easy as ABC.
Second graders will learn “important LGBTQ+ vocabulary” and will learn “respectful words to describe different identities related to gender and family structure.” By the end of the week, students will be able to create “a folklore that can help children who read it question harmful stereotypes around gender and race.”
Third graders will learn about “sex assigned at birth” and how it compares to gender. They will also learn that “colonizers had xenophobia towards Native culture.” Students will learn about gender equity around the world.
Fourth graders will watch videos about gender stereotypes and learn about gender inequality and so-called misgendering. Professional development resources include “NY Times Lesson Plans Teaching and Learning about Masculinity,” “Pronoun Etiquette,” and “Understanding Unconscious Bias.”
Students in fifth grade will also learn “LGBTQ+ vocabulary” and will focus on indigenous peoples. Professional development materials will include focus on Native Americans and will come from groups such as the Center for American Progress and United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders will learn about bills that target transgender athletes in school sports and “actions they can take about these bills,” proving once more that public education is merely an indoctrination tool for the Left’s agenda.
The lesson plans for the Evanston/Skokie students, particularly those from preschool through third grade, are exactly the type of curricula Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Law seeks to protect young children in Florida from learning, but Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been vilified by the Left for the measure, which Democrats have dubbed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.
DeSantis’ press secretary, Christina Pushaw, decried Evanston/Skokie School District’s lessons in a statement to Fox News.
“This is appalling, but it’s not surprising. Countless activists, politicians, and media outlets have been gaslighting parents by claiming that ‘there is no sex ed in K-3’ or ‘kindergarteners aren’t learning about transgenderism.’ Unfortunately, this isn’t true, and that’s why Governor DeSantis signed the Parental Rights in Education law — to protect kids in Florida from inappropriate content in the classroom, and to defend parents’ rights to impart their values to their own children,” Pushaw said.
“Thanks to our governor and the legislature, Florida kids will not be subjected to ideological indoctrination about sex and gender theory that is unfortunately injected into curriculum in Illinois and other states,” she continued, adding that examples such as Evanston/Skokie “demonstrate why Florida’s laws are necessary.”
According to the district’s website, the LGBTQ+ Equity Month is just one of several leftist fantasy lessons forced upon young, unsuspecting minds. The school district also hosts a Latinx Heritage Month, even though the term “Latinx” offends most Latinos.
“The reality is there is very little to no support for its use and it’s sort of seen as something used inside the Beltway or in Ivy League tower settings,” said Domingo Garcia, president of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the oldest Latino civil-rights organization in America. The group dropped the term “Latinx” from its communications because it offended most Latinos, he told NBC News in December.
Latinx Heritage Month will focus on social justice and ways to create an “anti-racist classroom,” with lessons on ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, colonization, stereotypes, and more.
The district also hosts a Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action. The website shows the demands for the Black Lives Matter at School Week of Action include “End Zero Tolerance,” “Mandate black history and ethnic studies,” “Hire more black teachers,” and “Fund counselors, not cops.”
The Evanston/Skokie School District made the news last year when school drama teacher Stacy Deemar filed a lawsuit against the district over its critical race theory curriculum. That lawsuit remains in litigation.
Also in 2021, the Evanston City Council voted to approve a plan for reparations to black residents, which came in the form of $25,000 awards for down payments on property or home repairs, Fox News reported.
