Movieguide’s Evelyn Baehr on Faith, Family, and Hollywood (Video)

The New American turned the tables recently on Evelyn Baehr (shown), who normally is interviewing others rather than being interviewed herself. Miss Baehr, the daughter of Dr. Ted Baehr (see our video interview with Dr. Baehr here), works with her father, mother, and brother, Robert, at Movieguide and the Christian Film and Television Commission in Camarillo, California.

Evelyn (known as “Evy” to family and friends) has grown up in a family that has a multi-generational connection to the entertainment industry. Her grandfather, Irvine E. Theodore Baehr, was a leading actor on stage and screen in the 1930s and ’40s. Working under the stage name Robert “Tex” Allen, he is best known for his western films. Her grandmother, Evelyn Pierce (Baehr), was an American film actress during the silent era and into the 1930s. Evy’s father, Ted Baehr, was raised in New York City, where he gained experience acting in commercials, motion pictures, television, and on stage. He later served as director of the Television Center at the City University of New York and president of Episcopal Radio and Television Foundation, before founding Movieguide (1985) and the Christian Film and Television Commission (1986).

It is obvious from her video interviews with Hollywood celebrities that Evy is comfortable discussing the Christian faith and spiritual inspiration with entertainment professionals. She is deeply committed to the mission of Movieguide in the larger culture war, and she couples intelligence, sensitivity, and a fun-loving spirit to her passion for the Gospel message.

In the video below she interviews veteran film star Dennis Quaid, who played the father of  real-life shark attack survivor Bethany Hamilton, in the inspirational hit movie, Soul Surfer. In the same video she interviews upcoming star AnnaSophia Robb, who played Hamilton in the movie.
