False Narrative of “Systemic Racism” and “White Supremacy” Ignores Black Racist Crime

The liberal media is constantly reminding all of us that “white supremacy” — which is indistinguishable from “whiteness” — is the root of so many of America’s woes. Racially motivated crime is treated as a one-way street. This — we are told — is because it is impossible for anyone who is not white to be a racist. Of course, targeting people for violence based on their race is the very picture of not just racism, but extreme racism. And that is true regardless of the color of either the perpetrator or the victim.

A violent weekend crime spree in Columbus, Georgia, and Phenix City, Alabama, ended after Justin Tyran Roberts — a 39-year-old black man who shot and wounded five people just for being white — was arrested. Roberts offered no denial of either his actions or his motive; he readily admitted that he chose his victims based solely on the color of their skin.

Fortunately, all of the victims in this case are expected to survive. But that is not due to any lack of trying on the part of Roberts. As Fox News reported:

Police said one person was hurt in a shooting Friday night at a hotel in Phenix City. Less than two hours later Friday, three people were shot in Columbus. A fifth person was shot Saturday afternoon.

This writer did a large part of his growing up in Phenix City and remembers walking across the 14th Street bridge into Columbus as a teenager. The Chattahoochee River may serve as a geographical boundary, but the two cities are intricately connected; many people who live in Phenix City work in Columbus. Before NAFTA led to the destruction of the American textile industry, this writer knew dozens of men and women who lived in Phenix City and worked at the mills in Columbus. The cities are so connected that, though Phenix City is located in Alabama, it is the only city in that state that is part of the Eastern Time Zone.

This writer remembers the part racial tensions played in Columbus and Phenix City in the 1970s and 1980s. But the ensuing years appeared to have begun to close the door on those “bad old days.” Now, however, it appears that the anti-whiteness race hustling of BLM and other radical groups, along with the liberal media’s love affair with Critical Race Theory, have succeeded in rolling back race relations at least 50 years. Case in point: Roberts was eager to admit that he deliberately sought out white men to shoot.

In a preliminary court appearance Monday on charges in one of the shootings, Detective Brandon Lockhart testified that Roberts admitted to shooting a white man in the back as the man was getting into a car. He testified that Roberts said, “I had to have him.”

In his testimony, Lockhart also said, “Basically, he explained throughout his life, specifically white males had taken from him, and also what he described as military-looking white males had taken from him.”

Roberts’ public defender, Robin King, requested a mental-health evaluation for Roberts, telling the judge, “The officer’s testimony has demonstrated that Mr. Roberts is having delusions and a disconnect from reality.”

Precisely.

And the “disconnect from reality” that seems to have caused those “delusions” is almost certainly the result of drinking at the poisoned well of anti-whiteness Critical Race Theory. And this case is not an “isolated incident” either.

Two hours away, the Buckhead section of Atlanta has seen a sharp uptick in violent crimes where black men are the perpetrators, white people are the victims, and the only motivation appears to be race.

In a previous article, this writer reported on Buckhead’s plan to secede from Atlanta, form its own government, form and fund its own police department, and combat the violent crime wreaking havoc there.

After that article was published, Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson had Bill White — chairman and CEO of the Buckhead City Committee, the organization fighting for independent cityhood — on his program. Carlson and White discussed the growing trend of racial violence in Buckhead.

Take for example an incident last year when Fakhraddivin Moore — a black man out on bond after a previous series of violent crimes — attacked Eliana Kovitch and her boyfriend — both white — as they were outside the Mercedes-Benz dealership in Buckhead. There was no robbery. There was no provocation.

And then there is the recent incident wherein Gaelen Kahrlee Newsom — a 22-year-old black man — went on a drive-by shooting spree in Buckhead. He shot one jogger three times, fired at two other joggers, and rammed his car into another jogger. Again, no robbery, no provocation.

And Valerie Kasper was attacked while walking along a popular walking trail in Brookhaven, near Buckhead. Kasper was six months pregnant with her second child and was pushing her three-year-old son in a stroller when Christopher Jones, a 30-year-old black man, ran up behind her and stabbed her in the back. Again, no robbery, no provocation.

The only thing all of these victims have in common is that they are all white and they were all attacked by black men.

As Carlson stated in his commentary, “These weren’t robberies. The only point was physical injury, was terror, was brutality. The victims appear to have been chosen purely for how they look.”

As the liberal mainstream media have continued to lead with a narrative of “systemic racism” and “white oppression,” the race-relation gains of the past several decades have been — and are continuing to be — lost. The formula appears to be a simple one: One part victim mentality, one part anger over imagined oppression, one part racial pride, mix in a media blender and apply liberally and often. The result is also simple: A “disconnect from reality” leading to “delusions” of “systemic racism” and “white oppression” requiring (or at least justifying) violent crime motivated by race. Rinse and repeat. And so, America’s streets are becoming more and more a violent-crime war zone.

And while just the brief list of examples above should be sufficient to show that racist crime is not a one-way street paved with white stones, don’t hold your breath for the mainstream liberal media to reverse course and admit that sometimes racist black people target innocent white people. Because the liberal mainstream media aren’t about to start letting the facts get in the way of an important narrative.
