The Mao-style Madness of COVID-19

In 1957, communist dictator Mao Tse-tung decreed that doubling China’s output of steel would transform it into a world power. Mao’s minions immediately threw China’s entire population into accomplishing one single task: producing steel. Peasants were called in from the fields to smelt steel, children were sent scavenging for steel cooking pots to melt down, and workers stripped mountainsides of trees to build fires to smelt steel. A zeal for steel permeated the nation for an entire year.

This single-minded central planning madness ushered in an era of food shortages and staggering economic suffering for the people of China that unfolded and deepened over the course of years. It has been said that “this absurd situation reflected … Mao’s ignorance of how an economy worked” as well as his “disregard for reality.”

A similar single-minded madness has enveloped America for the past year and a half: COVID-19. The effects are devastating on both a micro and macro level.

One tragic micro case happened when my neighbor’s sister-in-law was scheduled for surgery. In accordance with COVID-19 edicts, she was turned away because she had a mild fever. Within two weeks she was dead. Turns out there are a lot of reasons people might have fevers other than COVID-19, and one of them is massive infection. This woman’s condition would likely have been treated if there had been investigation into the cause of the fever rather than a knee jerk reaction based on COVID-19 edicts enacted in the name of “saving lives.”

Flatten the Curve, or Flatten the Economy?

As is well-documented at this stage of the game, the macroeconomic effects of prioritizing COVID-19 above all else are deepening as zealous governmental responses to the virus continue and, incredibly, even intensify in places such as Australia. But unlike with Mao, whose ignorance of how economies functioned caused massive economic injury, it is becoming ever clearer that the cooperating experts, heads of state, and drivers of international movements understand all too well how economies work and may be using the COVID-19 hysteria to crush the economy on purpose.

But why would anyone want to crush the economies of entire nations and perhaps the economy of the entire world? Global influencers are becoming increasingly bold about their intentions to overthrow the major economic and social systems of the world without consulting We, the People.

In case you missed any of these socialist, world-government-loving gems from the mouths of global influencers themselves during the COVID-19 outbreak, here is a sampling:

António Guterres, secretary general of the United Nations

Guterres passionately called for “collaborative leadership” and said, “As we plan our recovery from the coronavirus pandemic, we have a profound opportunity to steer our world on a more sustainable and inclusive path” and to “accelerate the decarbonization of all aspects of our economy.” Guterres further said we “must not be bailing out outdated, polluting, carbon-intensive industries.” Simply put, the goal is to increasingly globalize government and let our current economies based on fossil fuels collapse using COVID-19 as a convenient cover for this ghastly plan. So — in a leap of logic we are not meant to notice — because of COVID-19 we must hurriedly decarbonize the world and centralize world leadership.

Klaus Schwab, executive chairman of the World Economic Forum

Schwab said, “We have to decarbonize the economy in the short window still remaining and bring our thinking and behavior once more into harmony with nature.” This echoes Guterres’s goal to “green” the economy and forcibly destabilize our current fossil fuel-based system which would wreak havoc on virtually every sector of society. Of course, this is framed in the dire context of having a short window of time in which to save the world.

Gordon Brown, former prime minister of the U.K.

Brown “urged” world leaders to create a temporary form of global government to tackle the twin medical and economic crises caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.” This “temporary” government would reportedly have “executive powers” to coordinate global efforts. This blatant call for world government should have every freedom-loving citizen shaking in their boots.

Joe Biden, president of the United States

When Biden was running for president, his website said:

This is not time to just build back to the way things were before, with the old economy’s structural weaknesses and inequalities still in place. This is the moment to imagine and build a new American economy for our families and the next generation…An economy more vibrant and more powerful precisely because everybody will be cut in on the deal.

This nice-sounding paragraph calls for abolishing the “old” American economic model of free market capitalism based on market forces and individual choices and invoking “a new American economy.” This sounds eerily similar to Mao’s statement on China that, “The country must be destroyed and then reformed.” Perhaps it should not be surprising to hear Marxist dogma dripping from the lips of the Biden campaign when we remember that a member of the Obama-Biden administration once praised Chairman Mao as “a favorite political philosopher.”

The prince of Wales

His Royal Highness proclaimed, “In order to secure our future and to prosper, we need to evolve our economic model and put people and planet at the heart of global value creation.”

What does it mean to “evolve our economic model?” He’s talking about obliterating free market capitalism. And what economic model is being trotted out to replace it? The darling of many high-ranking influencers: good old rotten, eternally enticing socialism, which despite its lethal past is still billed as “sustainable,” “inclusive,” and “just.”

So, in short, the underlying goal of ongoing coronavirus hysteria is to send people running in panic to the welcoming arms of globalist, socialist planners who gain ever-increasing centralized power and will supposedly save the world even though all socialism and communism have been able to do in the past is cripple, demoralize, and destroy it.

Socialist central planning cannot possibly respond to the diverse needs of individuals, respect citizens’ God-given rights, or even respond appropriately to mild fevers. Mao-style socialist central planning has led to death and chaos over the past year and a half. And it always will.
