Governor DeSantis Rightly Rejected “The View’s” Invitation

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was recently invited to be a guest on The View. He respectfully declined. Floridians should support his decision wholeheartedly.

As reported by Fox News, The View’s supervising talent producer Todd Polkes reached out to DeSantis’ media team on Friday, where he wrote, in part:

I hope you’re having a good summer. I am reaching out to invite Gov. Ron DeSantis to be our special guest on THE VIEW next season, which starts Sept. 6. We would be honored to have him join us in studio sometime in the Fall.

It will only be a few weeks before the midterm elections and THE VIEW is an ideal place to remind millions of people what’s at stake in the election. As the most important and influential TV show for women, our show would be able to reach millions of female voters across the country on television and social media.

We will likely have a new conservative host joining us at that time in addition to Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines which will bring even more attention to THE VIEW. They are very concerned about such issues as the economy, environment, abortion and voting rights.

Please let me know if we can discuss, happy to talk over the phone as well.

Floridians know how hard Governor DeSantis works. They also know that he is always happy to engage in civil and intelligent dialogue about the various issues that are important to them. Sadly, this type of engagement and discourse is unlikely to happen if he appears on The View.

In Florida, Governor DeSantis is focused on freedom, the Constitution, businesses, and protecting parental rights and children from efforts to sexualize and/or indoctrinate them. While these are some of his major concerns, many of the hosts on The View have shamelessly and publicly voiced their displeasure with him and/or his positions on many of these issues. For example, according to Fox News, in September, when discussing the issue of school masking, Joy Behar claimed that the governor was putting his “political ambitions” before the safety of children. According to Behar, “He should be criminally liable for that. You are actually committing negligent homicide when people die on your watch.”

Worse yet, one or more of the hosts have also launched vile personal attacks against Governor DeSantis on more than one occasion. According to Fox News, co-host Sunny Hostin previously stated, “bigotry is on the ballot when it comes to Ron DeSantis.” There are many other examples. As a matter of fact, the governor’s deputy press secretary, Bryan Griffin, recently responded to (and declined) the invitation, where he provided additional examples where the show’s various hosts personally attacked DeSantis. A copy of Griffin’s response can be found here.

There is absolutely no good reason for Governor DeSantis to appear on The View. Many of the hosts have not only attacked his positions on various issues, but have launched baseless and hate-filled verbal attacks against him personally. Governor DeSantis is well-known throughout the nation and is loved by many Floridians and Americans nationwide. He does not need The View, nor does he need the headache that would undoubtedly come if he appeared on the show. The truth of the matter is that The View needs Ron DeSantis much more than Ron DeSantis needs The View. In reality, Governor DeSantis does not need The View at all.

Thomas Paine, an English-American writer, once said, “To argue with a person who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead.” In other words, there is no sense in doing so.

The governor made the right choice in declining the invitation! He simply has much better things to do with his time.
