Donald Trump, Jr. returned to the witness stand on Monday. He joked, “I’d say it’s good to be here, your honor, but I think the attorney general would sue me for perjury.”
New York Attorney General Letitia James rested her case against former President Donald Trump last week, closing after questioning Ivanka Trump. The former president and three of his children — Donald, Jr.; Eric; and Ivanka — were questioned by the state during the first six weeks of the trial. After the state rested its case, Trump defense lawyers attempted to end the trial by requesting a directed verdict, but Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron stated the trial would continue as scheduled.
The New York civil fraud trial is now in its seventh week, which begins with Trump defense lawyers calling witnesses. The defense is expected to call expert witnesses, along with Eric Trump and President Trump, who will take the stand again.
