Canada’s Globalist Switch-out: Trudeau for Carney
Talk about going out of the frying pan and into the proverbial fire! Poor Canada has gotten rid of one disaster of a radical-left Prime Minister — Justin Trudeau — only to be saddled with an even worse one: Mark Carney, globalist, environmental extremist, and bankster extraordinaire. Carney’s impressive global establishment résumé includes not only degrees from Harvard and Oxford, but also stints as Governor of both the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England, making him one of a very few people in history to have served as the head of two different central banks. (Italy’s Mario Draghi has served as both the governor of the Bank of Italy and as the president of the European Central Bank, while Andrew Shonley also was governor of the Bank of Canada from 1967 to 1972, before being tapped as governor of the Bank of England in 1979.) Carney, in other words, is (in stark contrast to Trudeau) a competent leftist radical, to the extent that such a phrase can have any sense. He is widely regarded both as having the bona fides and as commanding the respect abroad to enable Canada to push back against Trump’s aggressive agenda — as well as to blunt the appeal of Canada’s rising conservative star, Pierre Poilievre. Canada is required by law to have general elections later this year, but now, thanks to the rise of Carney and the Trump tariffs, Canada’s much-maligned liberals may be able to cling to power at the ballot box.
Carney, be it noted, is also a prominent figure in Bank for International Settlements (BIS) circles, having served as chairman for the BIS’s Committee on the Global Financial System, and in 2012 participated in a panel at the World Economic Forum entitled “Beyond Basel: Financial Institution Regulation,” where stronger controls over banking than even the Basel Protocols were discussed. He also was chairman of the Financial Stability Board, the Basel-based and BIS-hosted international body that pushes for more global banking and financial regulations. And Carney has attended the ultra-secret annual Bilderberg Group meetings at least three times, in 2011, 2012, and 2019. Carney, in other words, is an insider’s insider, and will doubtless be leading the globalist counterattack against Trump and the MAGA movement. It remains to be seen whether the globalists are able to keep him in power in Ottawa, but that is doubtless one of their top priorities for this year. — SB
