Comrades at “Hidden Davos”: Marxist Revolutionary Joins Billionaires

Occupy Wall Street co-founder Micah White (shown) says he is going to the annual World Economic Forum, the ultimate jet set club, to get into “the hidden Davos” where “activists and elites” engage in “joint action on the global crises,” such as global warming and income inequality.

It’s a tough, thankless job, but somebody’s got to do it: socialize with the ultra-super-rich at the most ostentatious party of conspicuous consumptiuon on the planet. Poor Micah White was picked (or volunteered) to be the sacrificial lamb for the cause, even though he knows that many of his fellow revolutionaries will accuse him of selling out. In an interview with the BBC, White, the 38-year-old co-founder of the Occupy Wall Street movement, said his decision to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, is “probably reputational suicide.” Yes, the optics of a professional Marxist activist hobnobbing with the caviar-and-Rolls Royce class can be problematical. So he has some ‘splaining’ to do to quell rebellion amongst the ranks of true believers.

“Within the activist culture there’s an assumption that nothing good can come from that space,” White said, in an interview with the BBC. But White has come to the conclusion that “marches and ‘denouncing the elites’ are not going to help combat climate change.” The BBC reports:

Instead, he now believes in forging a link between “activists and elites”.

“It was not an easy choice to accept the invitation because it goes against contemporary activist understanding of how change should be achieved,” he said.

But, he added: “The global challenges that we face right now require a new attitude amongst activists and a new attitude amongst elites – and maybe we can start to get there at places like Davos.”

White explained his rationale for attending the WEF in a piece he wrote for The Guardian, Britain’s far-left newspaper of note. Entitled “I co-founded Occupy Wall Street. Now I’m headed to Davos. Why?,” it carries the subtitle, “Rejecting Davos is easy when one hasn’t been invited. Now that I have a chance to go, I want to discover its revolutionary potential.”

The “Hidden Davos” of “activists and elites”

Micah White correctly notes that “Davos is not one thing. There are many Davoses at Davos.” “There is the official Davos comprised of outward-facing sessions organized by the World Economic Forum,” he observes. “These events are intellectual performances, livestreamed to the public and open to reporters. This is the carefully staged forum that outsiders see.”

In addition, there is “the unofficial Davos of decadent corporate-hosted dinners and nightcaps attended by celebrities who fly in on private jets to party and are not invited to the Forum.”

“And then,” notes White, “there is the hidden Davos: the private, off-the-record events organized by the World Economic Forum. These secretive invite-only meetings are held under the Chatham House rule, a strict guideline that protects the anonymity of participants in order to facilitate frank discussion. These, along with the equally confidential bilateral meetings held between participants in corridors and hotel lobbies, is the Davos with the potential to usher in great social changes.”

White continues:

In the hidden Davos opposing social forces, activists and elites, can put their egos and personas aside to speak freely and find common cause for joint action on the global crises that impact us all – from income inequality to climate change. It is here that the argument can be made that elites must stop suppressing protest and instead harness the creative energy of social movements to achieve great changes.

The Forum is perhaps the only place on earth where these opportunities for fraternization are possible.
I’m going to the World Economic Forum to find the hidden Davos. And the only way I know to get there is to keep following the unlikely activist path that has led me to the most powerful gathering in the world.

Unpacking the Obfuscation

There’s a lot of disingenuity and obfuscation to unpack here, in addition to important information that has been omitted by “revolutionary” Micah White. First of all, we should note that there is indeed a “hidden Davos,” just as there is a hidden side to all of these spectacles of “the great and the good” where the “activists and elites” collaborate, collude, and conspire. But is White really so ignorant as to believe that he is unique in this respect, or that he is breaking new ground? The “unlikely activist path” White treads has been trod by countless activists before him. See, for instance our article from a decade ago (February 16, 2010, The Grasp of Socialist International ), in which we detail many of the prominent Marxists, socialist leaders, communist dictators, and terrorists who have been welcomed as honored guests and speakers at the WEF’s glittering soirees.

Davos is the premier glitterati dog and pony show where the globalist elites and their kept “activists” link arms to “save the world” from the crisis du jour. Invariably, this involves us giving them — the saviors — more power and more money. Invariably, this also entails a “united front” of WEF partners, sponsors, and associates from Big Business (BlackRock, IBM, Uber, GE, Alibaba, BP, Dow, et al ), Big Banking (Goldman Sachs, BofA, World Bank, IMF, JPMorgan Chase, et al ), Big Tech (Google, Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft, Huawei, et al ), Big Foundations (Ford, Rockefeller, Carnegie, Soros, Gates, et al), and Big Media (New York Times, Financial Times, CNN, BBC, et al), along with Big Green (Sierra Club, Greenpeace, Environmental Defense Fund) and Big Labor (Service Employees International Union, AFL-CIO, UNI Global Union, et al). And, invariably this united front pushes for more Big Government as the solution to every “crisis” — with Global Total Government as the ultimate solution.

The WEF announced in an October 17, 2019 press release that its 2020 Davos confab would be meeting under the theme, “Stakeholders for a Cohesive and Sustainable World.” Of course, “stakeholders” is the term of political art adopted by the globalists to designate their Astroturf groups as the legitimate representatives for global “civil society.” In the same press release, the WEF’s Founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab said: “People are revolting against the economic ‘elites’ they believe have betrayed them, and our efforts to keep global warming limited to 1.5°C are falling dangerously short.”

Elites Denouncing Elites, While Consuming Like Elites

Globe-hopping plutocrats such as Klaus Schwab, Prince Charles, Al Gore, Jack Ma, Bill Gates, George Soros, Elon Musk, and Jeff Bezos denouncing elites and income inequality? Does that not sound a wee bit disingenuous? But that’s standard fare at these gold-plated, diamond-studded extravaganzas of the top 1 percent of the planet’s top one percent. And if we simply give them more power to monitor, regulate and control every step we make, every breath we take, they will fix it all. And is it not a wee bit disconcerting that White, in his BBC interview and elsewhere, says the Marxist left (which he claims to represent) must join in a “united front” with the WEF plutocrats? The term “united front” is very specifically and historically a communist term, especially when used by activists such as White, and in the context that he uses it.

“Activists” like Micah White cannot be ignorant of the Judas goat roles they are playing in this power game. Micah White is no dummy. He’s a phony, a sellout. He knows his entire “unlikely activist path” is far from “unlikely.” In fact, it is very formulaic. It has been paved by those elites in Big Media, Big Foundations, and Big Business who use dime-a-dozen activists like him to give street cred to their Big Government schemes. Is it really because Micah White is so brilliant that he is lavished with adoring coverage from the New York Times, CNN, BBC, etc., and given columns at The Guardian, and named Activist-in-Residence at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Luskin School of Public Affairs’ Institute on Inequality and Democracy? Or is it because, like teen climate fanatic Greta Thunberg and the thousands of young activists being trained at the WEF’s Forum of Young Global Leaders and its Global Shapers Community, White reliably spouts the leftist rhetoric that supports the globalists’ push toward ever more-centralized, more-totalitarian control of all human activity?

If White plays his cards right, he may find out that the WEF is not quite “the most powerful gathering in the world.” Like “activist” Stacey Abrams, he may even get bumped up to the super-elite level above the WEF: Bilderberg. Then he’ll really have some ‘splaining to do.
